Our problems in Uniform.

When the solution to your problem or problems becomes the problem, in Nigeria pidgin we say "Tori don tie wrapper". That happens to be the situation of our country today.

How do you fight crime when the crime fighters are the criminals?
How do you prosecute thieves when the prosecutors are thieves?
How do you stop unjust shootings when they are the shooters?
How do you stop bribe when they live and survive on bribe?
How do you stop corruption when it is their field of play?

If we were to keep a data base of all the persons the people who are supposed to protect us has shot unjustly, then we will agree that we are better off without the decayed system of the Nigerian Police force.
People who has no value for life, has no business protecting lives

We feel insecure in the presence of those we call our security. Little wonder why Nigerians are very religious and fetish. Because everyone is seeking for a way to secure themselves and seek justice another way.

People won't sleep at night again they are in church vigils with brooms sweeping their invisible oppressors/enemies spiritually. sometimes with cane and koboko flogging them.

And then you say "Police is your friend"
How are we friends when I call you in times of trouble and you arrive 4 hours late even when your station is less than 20 minutes away blaring your siren loudly to announce your shameful entrance to the criminals?

How are you my friend when you finally arrive, you shoot aimlessly at the innocent or even I that called you and your boss will cover you up?

How are you my friend when I am the first person you arrest and detain when I call you for a crime?

How are you my friend when you have to shoot an innocent person to calm a riot or any chaos?

How are you my friend when, you arrest a criminal I reported and you release him when he pays you?

How are you my friend when I call you reporting an on going jungle justice and you come, mope around, laugh it off and go away?

How are you my friend when I call you that am being robbed and you tell me you don't have fuel and will come only if I agree to fuel your car?

How are you my friend when you run ahead of me when you finally see the criminals?

How are you my friend, when am young and rich you call me a criminal or a yahoo boy?

How are you my friend when you come to a crime scene more than 5 hours after a crime and everyone starts running because you will start packing everyone on the street just to make money out of bail and please your boss that you made arrest?

How are you my friend when you delay my movements on the high way because of N50 or N100, even when all my papers are intact?

How are you my friend when you say bail is free but you charge me for bail or give me the option of subjecting my self to being raped with "pure water" sachet and not even a condom?

How are you my friend when you take bribe from my killers and released the people that kidnapped and robbed me?

How are you my friend when you intimidate and strip me off my rights, even the fundamental ones?

How are you my friend when all you want from me is my money?

How are you my friend when I can't trust you to do the job you have been paid for?

How are you my friend when you are my biggest problem?

You say you are not well paid that is why you act the way you do.
You say you are not properly trained because of the lack of training facilities.
You say you are taken for granted that is why you treat me anyhow.
Then quit!

You are supposed to be my solution not my problem.

My solution, would have been let the government pay and compensate you properly but I fear, it will not  stop the Nigerian police brutality and corruption, I fear it will not stop them from killing the people they are supposed to protect.
Maybe the government should improve your training programs and facilities, reorientate, honestly restructure and genuinely clean up the system by fully prosecuting any one who is caught for any form of misconduct and corrupt practices.
It's either this or they scrap out the police force entirely let us know we are left with Holy Ghost fire, the blood of Jesus, Amadioha, Oduduwa Sango the god of thunder etc. because right now it feels like we will be better off that way.

So Thel me your Nigeria police story?
Thel me what you think is the best solution to this problem?
This is Thelmate let's talk Nigeria Police force.

  1. The police is not our problem, Nigerians are the problem of Nigeria, let us stop stating our problems we already know and start making solutions, by changing the world from your end, we can make a little difference by not adding to it by ourselves, you can make a difference in your own sphere of influence, and let our values be uniform
